What the upgrades do

Late in the game, pressing still matters. The top keyboards add up to 18% of your Hype per second onto every single press, so a player who keeps pressing earns far more than one who only waits.
How Hype Mode works
Hype Mode is the reward for pressing quickly rather than idling.

How to earn Hype faster
Don't sit on your Hype. An upgrade you can afford is always better than a bigger number on screen.
Buy helpers in bulk. The ×10 and Max buttons save time, and helper prices rise the more you own.
Trigger Hype Mode before a big purchase. Doubling your income for 12 seconds can be the difference between waiting and buying.
Keep pressing late game. The best keyboards turn each press into a share of your whole per-second income.
Come back tomorrow. Your setup keeps earning while you're away, so the first purchase after a break is usually the biggest.
Take breaks. It's a game about pressing one key. Stop if your hand aches.

What is Spacebar Clicker?
Spacebar Clicker is an idle game where pressing the spacebar earns points. In this version, called Setup Tycoon, those points are Hype, and you spend them on better keyboards and on people who earn Hype for you, building up from a bedroom desk to an esports arena.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. The game saves on your device automatically every 10 seconds, and again when you close the tab. Come back later and your Hype, upgrades and room will still be there.
How do I move my save to another device?
Use the save code. Copy it from the Save panel, then paste it into the same panel on the other device and press Load. It carries your full progress across browsers and computers.
Does the game earn Hype while the tab is closed?
Yes, at half your normal rate, for up to 2 hours away. When you come back, a card shows what your setup earned. Beyond 2 hours you don't lose anything you already had; the game just stops adding more.
What is Hype Mode?
Hype Mode is a bonus for fast pressing. Each press fills the meter by 5% while it drains 30% per second, so you need to press faster than about 6 times a second to fill it. When it's full, everything earns double for 12 seconds.
Does holding the spacebar work?
No. Holding a key makes your keyboard send repeat signals, and those are ignored. Only real presses count, with the key released in between. The same goes for autoclickers: anything above 20 presses per second is ignored, which is faster than any hand.
Is there an end to the game?
Yes. At 20 billion lifetime Hype you win the World Final, and the game shows how long it took and how many presses it needed. You can carry on playing afterwards, and a New Season reset is planned for a future update.
Can I play Spacebar Clicker on a phone?
Yes. Tap the big Press button instead of using a keyboard. Everything else works the same, including saves and offline earnings.
Why is my Hype per press higher than the keyboard says?
Two reasons. Every room you reach adds a permanent +10% to all Hype, and the later keyboards add a percentage of your Hype per second onto each press. Hype Mode then doubles the total while it's running.
Can I turn the sound off?
Yes. The sound button sits above the game, and the choice is remembered. Sound is on by default because the keypress sounds change as your keyboard improves, from a soft membrane thud to a deep mechanical thock.
